However, for a larger person, the power should be higher. This is already the case for models with a heating capacity of 2,000 watts.

 Wood type

The type of wood plays an important role when buying best infrared sauna. It should be resistant to moisture so that the wood is not damaged. In addition, the type of wood should be well-processed to guarantee a long life for the sauna.

 Size

Before buying a portable sauna, you should be clear about the size you need. This should be chosen so that it fits into the desired space and can also be used comfortably. A portable sauna usually has a size of about 1.5 to 2 square meters.

Most portable saunas look similar and have a wooden design. However, there are also portable saunas with different designs, such as metal. Here, you should pay attention to the material and check if it suits your needs and preferences.

Type of heater

When buying a portable sauna, you should ensure that the heater is the right size. There are portable saunas with an electric stove or with wood stoves. Those who buy a portable sauna with an electric stove should make sure that the power outlet is nearby. Price

Since the prices of portable saunas can vary greatly, you should think carefully before buying what you want and what requirements the portable sauna should meet. As a rule, the price of a portable sauna is about 200 to 600 euros.

What are the advantages of a portable sauna?

A portable sauna is especially beneficial for people with joint pain or back pain, as they can lay on the affected areas like a heating pad. In addition, the sauna is also ideal for colds, as it stimulates blood flow to the mucous membranes and thus strengthens the body's defenses. In addition, the sauna relaxes the muscles and has a calming effect on the nervous system.

How does a portable infrared sauna work?

The operation of a portable sauna is very simple. The portable sauna is filled with hot water, which is then heated by a heater. The heated air rises to the top and is passed through a hose to the sauna, where it warms the sauna guest. Thus, the portable sauna works similarly to a fan heater.

What is the best way to use the portable sauna?

As a rule, the easiest way to use the portable sauna is to place it where you have enough space and it is accessible to you. Make sure that the sauna is not placed near water, otherwise, there is a risk that it will get soaked with water. It is best to place the sauna on a solid surface so that it does not tip over. The days are getting shorter, the leaves are changing color and the first cool autumn winds are foreshadowing it: the cold days are coming. We long for coziness and warmth. Our European neighbors, the Finns, are showing us how to do it, and the whole world is diligently emulating them - off to the best infrared sauna. In Germany alone, around 30 million people sweat voluntarily.

False tips about saunas still persist. It is important to separate the facts from the errors. We uncover and give tips for taking a sauna!

#1 The sauna helps you lose weight

Probably the most persistent sauna misconception revolves around weight loss after a sauna session. If a few kilos less stand on the scales after sauna, the joy is short. The quick and comparatively easy weight loss is due to the lack of water in the body caused by sweating.

Fat burning while taking a cheap sauna is therefore nothing but a stubborn myth. Nevertheless, a sauna visit stimulates the metabolism and can thus have positive effects on a diet and your health. Only a healthy diet and exercise can help you lose weight!

#2 Sauna is so healthy and prevents colds

Especially in the cold seasons, the question arises: can you simply sweat out

cold in the sauna and who should not sauna?

Basically, if the infection is already pronounced, the one person sauna should be avoided. In this phase, the body tries to heal itself and therefore needs all its energy to fight the viruses. A hot sweat bath with fragrant sauna infusions can be compared to a round of jogging and in this condition is an unnecessary strain on the ailing body. If you already have a cold, you should allow yourself as much rest as possible and avoid alternating between heat and cold to avoid putting additional strain on your cardiovascular system.

If a cold is slowly developing with coughs, colds and sore throats, a steam sauna should be chosen, as this has somewhat lower temperatures. There the mucous membranes are not so strongly loaded and less dried out. Also on the cold shower after the sauna should be renounced and rather slowly give the body the opportunity to cool down. In any case, if you have a fever, it is better to go to bed than to the sauna.

#3 Frequent sauna is healthy

Right. Visiting a sauna can have a positive effect on our health if we sauna regularly. A Finnish study showed that the risk of dying from cardiovascular disease decreases if you go to the sauna more than once a week. Nevertheless:

Sweating means hard work for our body, with stress on the cardiovascular system. Especially for sauna beginners, sauna sessions should be enjoyed in moderation. How long does a sauna session last? A session should not last longer than 15 minutes and should not include more than three sauna sessions in a row. Between sweaty sessions, it is important to take restful breaks.

#4 In the sauna dry out the skin and hair.

The assumption that a visit to the sauna dries out the skin or harms the hair is unfounded. On the contrary. Studies have shown that going to the sauna increases the moisture content of the skin.

The heat promotes blood circulation and contributes to beautiful skin. Creams, oils and makeup should be removed before taking a sauna, as the substances in essential oils or the ingredients in creams can cause great stress to the skin if the heat is too intense. Showering before taking a sauna is therefore necessary not only for hygienic reasons.

The hair is not necessarily at risk of drying out when saunas are taken regularly.

It is recommended to wash the hair with a mild shampoo before the first sauna session and to apply a hair mask after a visit to the sauna or steam bath, as this can penetrate the hair structure particularly well.

SAUNA TIP:

It depends on the correct sequence of care products.

# 5 Sauna detoxifies the body

Unfortunately only a myth. In the sauna, our body cannot sweat out harmful substances or so-called slags. Metabolic waste products or other harmful substances in the body are utilized by the kidneys and liver and are by no means sweated out during saunas. Detoxification by sauna belongs to the realm of legends. But even this myth contains a shred of truth. Besides water and minerals, our sweat also contains minimal traces of other substances. However, these quantities are so small that one cannot speak of detoxification in the sauna.

Can you lose weight by going to the sauna? Between myth and reality

Does dry steam make you lose weight?

Sorry to disappoint you, but sitting in a sauna is not going to make you lose weight (don't cry!). As logical as it may seem, the only ways to lose weight are to reduce your food intake below your daily needs or to increase your spending by getting into sports. You can also use best infrared sauna for home

Of course, you will "lose weight" for the duration of the sauna session because your body will be lightened by the weight of the water lost. But once you have recovered all this water by drinking, you will regain all the weight "lost". Indeed, heat does not melt fat... Don't try to maintain this weight loss by refusing to drink, you risk dehydration and risk your health.

Combining sauna and sports activities

As we said before, there are no 36 solutions to lose weight (and the sauna itself is not one of them). Reducing daily caloric intake or increasing expenses related to sports activity are the only ways to lose weight.

If you are determined to slim down your figure, why not combine sports activity and sauna? After a good sports session, go to the sauna to relax. Indeed, heat multiplies the benefits after a sports activity: it helps to reduce muscular pains that occur during training, it helps muscles to recover better for the next sessions and it promotes the elimination of toxins.

How does best infrared sauna session take place?

A session in a sauna takes place in several stages: you enter the heated room (at least 80 degrees) for a maximum of fifteen minutes, then you leave the room to plunge into an invigorating cold bath!

This hot-cold alternation allows you to take full advantage of the sauna's relaxing virtues. Then perform this same ritual twice more. Note that the sauna is practiced naked, possibly with a towel on the head, no one wears a bathing suit because it would prevent the evaporation of sweat.

The practice of the sauna is excellent for your health. Even if it does not make you lose weight by itself, the sauna is ideal to accompany weight loss.

Sauna, beware of dehydration

Exposure to the heat of the sauna makes you sweat and therefore lose a lot of water, which can lead to dehydration. Follow these guidelines to help you recognize the warning signs of dehydration and what you can do to avoid it.

How does dehydration occur?

In a sauna, the temperature is particularly high. In reaction to this high heat, the body produces a large amount of perspiration to cool itself, and therefore loses water.

When the body loses water, especially through perspiration induced by the heat of the sauna, and this water is not replaced, you can fall victim to the effects of dehydration.

Water is the main component of our body since it represents about 60% of our weight. Water is essential to our body since it hydrates the skin and the cells of our body, allows it to regulate its temperature, participates in the elimination of waste, and helps the kidneys to function.

Also note that when you sweat, you not only lose water, but also lose mineral salts such as sodium and potassium.

Adverse effects of dehydration during best one person sauna

When you are dehydrated, it means that you have lost too much water, and this can manifest itself in several signs:

  1. You begin by feeling thirsty;
  2. You have dry skin and dry mouth;
  3. You may experience headaches and even dizziness;
  4. You may feel tired and weak;
  5. Your urine is less frequent, less abundant, and darker in color and odor;

If you are in an advanced stage of dehydration, you may experience a lack of urine, the beginnings of a urinary tract infection (burning when urinating, bladder pain), and a drop in blood pressure;

If you don't rehydrate quickly enough, your kidneys may no longer function properly, you may lose consciousness and fall into a coma.

Always pay close attention to these signs of dehydration, and if they occur, you should get out of the sauna and drink plenty of water.

How to lose weight effectively?

You want to lose weight and don't know how to do it? To lose weight in the long term, it is better to make a few dietary adjustments and some exercises rather than depriving yourself unnecessarily.

You can succeed in losing a few pounds on two conditions: change your eating habits and increase your physical activity. If you don't exercise today, it doesn't necessarily mean doing sports, but a daily walk or a little swimming each week can already do a lot.

Beware! If you need to lose five kilos or more, consult a doctor or dietician because you need regular follow-up.

Basic rules for losing weight using best infrared sauna

To change your diet, you must moderately reduce your calorie intake, i.e. first of all fat and fast sugars. It is necessary to respect good dietary practices (see "The guide to good dietary practices") by adding a few simple rules.

Do not skip meals, especially breakfast which must remain copious. Have a light meal in the evening ;

Do not eat anything outside of meals. If you are hungry between meals, drink a large glass of water, coffee, or tea without sugar. Drink also before and in the middle of the meal;

Continue to eat starchy foods at each meal: pasta, rice, potatoes, or bread. They give you a feeling of satiety and provide the energy you need, as well as fiber. On the other hand, everything that accompanies them should be limited: fatty sauces, butter, cheese, fresh cream, etc. These starchy foods should therefore be eaten alone or with a sugar-free or fat-free seasoning;

Eliminate sweetened soft drinks;

Eliminate alcohol and beer. You can continue to drink wine, preferably red, limiting yourself to one glass a day ;

Avoid eating out of the house as it is more difficult to control your diet. At the restaurant, it is sometimes possible, with friends it is more difficult... If you have a good meal with several people, you should try to reduce the quantities and never use a dish again;

Choose lean meats and favor poultry, without the skin, fish, and shellfish; You can also see the guide from cheap sauna.

Beware of hidden fats: avoid all meats in sauce, fatty cold meats, gratins rich in milk, butter or cream, gruyère cheese and eggs, fried foods, pastries and cakes, sweets and chocolate, ice cream, aperitif cakes ;

Eat vegetables at will and in all their forms: raw, cooked, in soup;

Eat two fruits a day, but no more; I have seen people using one person sauna for home use.

Meat: grilled or roasted ;

Fish: grilled, baked, cooked in the oven or microwave, or a papillote;

Vegetables: steamed, steamed, or microwaved;

In the skin of a Finn.... The secrets to a successful sauna session!

In Finland, sauna is a real tradition and a sauna session is always done in the same way, with rituals. This article presents the steps of a typical sauna session, as well as the rules to follow. How a sauna session takes place:

Steps and rules to know
Steps and rules to know during a sauna session
Sauna: Proper attire not required

Nudity is the norm in the best infrared sauna because wearing a bathing suit is considered antihygienic. And any clothing prevents the evaporation of perspiration.

Also remove your glasses or contact lenses and take off your jewelry (which could be burned by the heat).

NB: A towel is nevertheless placed between the bench and the skin to absorb the sweat and protect the skin from the heat of the wood (and protect the wood from your sweat!).

After the session, you only get dressed when you have finished sweating.

The steps of the sauna session

  1. Hot shower with soap (to get into the sauna room clean) then dry off
  2. First sauna session - Short session of 5 to 10 minutes
  3. Cold shower or bath (a few seconds are enough) then dry off
  4. Rest for 10 minutes - Rehydration
  5. Second sauna session - Long session of 10 to 15 minutes
  6. Cold shower or bath, then dry off
  7. Rest of : 10 minutes - Rehydration

Outdoor infrared sauna session can be done 2 to 3 times a week.
The rules to respect for a good sauna session

  •  There are rules to follow in order to avoid the negative effects of the high temperature.
  • First, listen to your body. Do not force your limits and stop the session at the slightest sign of discomfort!
  • For beginners: In traditional saunas, the hot air tends to rise. It is therefore more comfortable to sit on the lower benches.
  • Be sure to follow the alternative phases: Heat bath - Cooling - Resting The aim is to keep an internal temperature of 37°C, hence the sweating/cooling process.
  • Breathe through your mouth because breathing through your nose can burn your mucous membranes...Take your time! If you are in a hurry, postpone your sauna session until later.Avoid alcohol and heavy meals before the session...No cell phones or electronic devices in the traditional sauna cabin... It makes sense....

You don't do anything during a portable infrared sauna session... you don't talk, you don't move, you don't read. The heat mobilizes all your energy. The best thing is to do nothing at all. In Finland, a sauna session takes place in an almost religious silence.

Don't forget to rehydrate yourself to recover the sweaty water. You can lose up to 1 liter of water during a sauna session!
